Metal Wiegand Card Reader, 125 kHz / 13.56 MHz / LEGIC: overview
The CR-230 is a card-only 93 × 93 mm metal reader for integrators who want one housing across several credential technologies. It passes card data to any controller, turnstile board or lift panel with a Wiegand input and runs from 12 V DC at no more than 200 mA. Five read options cover 125 kHz EM cards, 13.56 MHz UIDs, protected MIFARE and CPU-card data, FeliCa numbers and LEGIC credentials.
The 13.56 MHz versions return the serial number of MIFARE Classic, MIFARE Plus, DESFire EV1/EV2/EV3, Ultralight and NTAG cards. CR-230-MS adds keyed reading of MIFARE Classic 1K/4K sectors and CPU-card data, plus ISO/IEC 15693 (ICODE) UIDs and the iCLASS card serial number (CSN) only. CR-230-MS-FC keeps the CPU-card data read, drops MIFARE Classic sector reading and adds FeliCa card numbers. CR-230-LG reads LEGIC card numbers and protected LEGIC content; confirm module details and your LEGIC project setup with us before you specify it.
Wiegand length, read mode, card key and number format are changed by presenting a configuration card, so one stocked part can be adapted per door. Response is under 120 ms once a card enters the field, the circuit has ESD and miswiring protection, and the reader is designed to cope with metal shielding on steel frames.
Integration notes
The pigtail uses red for +12 V, black for GND, green for D0 and white for D1; purple and gray take buzzer and LED control from the panel. Tie the yellow lead to GND to lock the output at Wiegand 26. Otherwise select 26 or 34 bits by configuration card, or 66 bits on the MS versions. No ingress rating is published, so mount it indoors or under cover.

Which CR-230 version reads LEGIC cards?
CR-230-LG reads LEGIC card numbers and protected LEGIC content, plus MIFARE-family and NTAG UIDs, and outputs Wiegand 34. Send us your LEGIC card type and project setup so we can confirm compatibility before you order.
Can it read HID iCLASS cards?
CR-230-MS and CR-230-MS-FC read the iCLASS card serial number (CSN) only. They do not decode the secure credential, so enroll iCLASS cards by CSN in your access software.
How do I switch between Wiegand 26 and 34?
Connect the yellow lead to GND to fix the output at Wiegand 26. Without that link, choose the format with a configuration card; the MS versions also offer Wiegand 66.
Can the CR-230 go on a steel door frame?
Yes. The reader is designed to resist metal shielding, which suits steel frames and metal-clad entrances. Test with your own cards at the final mounting position before a full rollout.
Is there a keypad version?
Yes. The CR-220 uses the same 93 × 93 mm metal format and adds a touch keypad for card-plus-PIN doors.
