Waterproof 280 kg (600 lb) Magnetic Lock with Door Status: overview
EL-110 is a surface-mount electromagnetic lock for single doors that face the weather, such as courtyard gates, exterior staff entrances and service doors. It holds 280 kg (600 lb) ±10% in static straight pull and sends a door-status signal back to the controller, so the system can tell a secured door from one left ajar.
The housing is high-strength aluminum alloy and the lock body is double insulated. An anti-residual-magnetism design and wear-resistant materials help the armature break away cleanly each time the door is released, and because the holding force is purely electromagnetic there are no latches or springs to wear out. A built-in MOV clamps the voltage spike produced when the coil switches off, protecting the relay contacts of the controller or keypad that drives it.
The installer sets the coil for 12 V DC ±10% (480 mA ±5%) or 24 V DC ±10% (240 mA ±5%). Like any maglock it is fail-safe: removing power releases the door, which suits escape routes and fire-alarm release circuits. There is no built-in relock delay, so door-open time is set in the controller or keypad.
Integration notes
The lock body measures 250 × 48 × 26 mm and the armature plate 180 × 38 × 11 mm. It is listed for wooden, glass, metal and fire doors. Add the EL-140 ZL bracket where the door opens toward the lock side, the EL-160 L bracket on narrow headers and the EL-150 U bracket on frameless glass leaves. Listed certifications are UL, CE, FCC and RoHS; ask us for copies if your specification requires them.

EL-110 FAQ
Can EL-110 be used on an outdoor gate?
Yes. It is the waterproof version of our 250 mm, 280 kg lock, with an aluminum-alloy housing and double-insulated body for doors and gates exposed to weather. No IP code is published, so if your specification names one, ask for test data before ordering.
What power supply does it need?
The coil draws 480 mA at 12 V DC or 240 mA at 24 V DC. Add the reader, controller and exit button load plus 25–50% headroom; a 12 V 3 A supply such as PW-120 covers a typical single door.
Is it fail-safe or fail-secure?
Fail-safe. The door is held only while the coil is powered, so a power cut or fire-alarm release opens it. If the door must stay locked during an outage, add battery backup to the power supply.
How is the door-status output used?
Wire it to the door-sensor or auxiliary input of your controller or alarm panel. The system can then raise door-held-open and forced-door alarms.
Which bracket do I need?
None if the door closes toward the lock side and the header is wide enough. Use the EL-140 ZL bracket when the door opens toward the lock, the EL-160 L bracket for narrow headers and the EL-150 U bracket for frameless glass 8–15 mm thick.
