Four-antenna fixed UHF RFID reader for dock doors, portals and cabinets, with Impinj R2000 chip, 20–33 dBm output, RS232, TCP/IP and 2-in/2-out GPIO.
The FX-120 is a four-port fixed UHF RFID reader sized for the most common portal jobs: a warehouse dock door, a shipping or receiving gate, a retail back-door portal or a cabinet with a handful of shelves. Four external antennas are polled in turn at a minimum of about 25 ms each, so a complete cycle over all four ports takes around 100 ms.
Inside is an Impinj Indy R2000 reader chip with a dual-CPU design. Output power ranges from 20 to 33 dBm with ±0.2 dB flatness, sensitivity is better than –85 dBm, and the reader inventories up to 700 tags per second at peak. It buffers 1,000 tags (96-bit EPC), reports RSSI with every read and supports both EPC Gen2 (ISO 18000-6C) and ISO 18000-6B, switching between them as needed.
The host link is TCP/IP or RS232. For portal logic, the 8-pin GPIO connector offers two polarized inputs for photo-eyes, light curtains or door contacts, and two non-polarized outputs for signal towers or PLC inputs, all rated up to 12 V. Multi-point temperature sensing and dual-backup power calibration are built into the board.
Power the reader from 12–18 V DC; it draws under 70 mA in standby and under 100 µA in sleep. The enclosure measures 200 × 190 × 30.8 mm, weighs about 1.8 kg and is air-cooled for –20 to +55 °C operation. Choose the EU 865–868 MHz or US 902–928 MHz version to suit the site, and quote antennas and cables together so cable lengths match the door layout.

Plan RFID for warehouse management: fixed readers and circular antennas at dock doors, conveyor tunnels, handheld cycle counts and on-metal asset tags.
Build an RFID asset tracking system: on-metal, ceramic and tie-on tags matched to each asset, handheld audits, smart cabinets and IP67 HF heads for tooling.
Usually yes. Most dock doors use two to four antennas, and at a minimum of about 25 ms per port the reader completes a four-antenna cycle in roughly 100 ms.
Connect a photo-eye or light curtain to one of the two GPIO inputs (up to 12 V) and use it as the read trigger in your software; an output can then drive a signal light.
TCP/IP over Ethernet and RS232. The reader buffers up to 1,000 tags with 96-bit EPC for the host to collect.
For more read points, the FX-110 offers eight antenna ports with the same RF specification, interfaces and footprint.
Compare UHF RFID reader bands by country, including US, EU, UK, China, India and Japan. Understand ERP, EIRP, channel conditions and radio approvals.
Wire a UHF reader's D0, D1 and ground to your controller, match 26/34-bit Wiegand, size 12 V power and trigger the barrier by relay. Diagrams included.
Yes, RFID works on metal with tags built for it. See why metal detunes standard tags, compare ABS, PCB, ceramic and label tags, and test read range properly.
