IP65 Tamper-Proof 13.56 MHz Card Reader, Wiegand/RS485: overview

TP-130 is the 13.56 MHz-only version of the 86 mm tamper-alarm reader. It fits sites that have already retired 125 kHz proximity cards, or never used them, and want a reader that can check encrypted card content instead of relying on a card serial number.

Supported credentials include MIFARE Classic, MIFARE DESFire EV1/EV2, MIFARE Ultralight and Ultralight C, NTAG2xx, CPU (microprocessor) smart cards and NFC Forum Type 1, 2 and 4 tags, under ISO/IEC 14443A/B and ISO/IEC 18092. Reading the encrypted content of CPU cards gives a credential that is much harder to duplicate than a UID. Read range is 0–3 cm.

The reader raises a tamper alarm if it is pried off its mounting, and the 86 × 86 × 15.6 mm housing is rated IP65 with an operating range of –20 to +65 °C. A touch-keypad version is available for doors that also need a PIN.

Integration notes

Wire either Wiegand or RS485 to the controller and supply 9–15 V DC; at 12 V allow about 100 mA on standby and 150 mA while reading. Firmware and configuration parameters are updated over RS485 using the management utility. No third-party certification is listed for this model, so confirm the marking your market requires before ordering.

TP-130 FAQ

Does TP-130 read 125 kHz cards?

No, it is 13.56 MHz only. For sites with both 125 kHz and 13.56 MHz cards, use the dual-frequency TP-120 in the same housing.

Should I use Wiegand or RS485?

Both are available. Wiegand suits a short run to a standard controller; RS485 handles longer cable runs and also carries firmware updates from the management utility.

What read range should I plan for?

0–3 cm, so users should hold the card close to the reader face.

What power does it need?

9–15 V DC. At 12 V it draws about 100 mA on standby and about 150 mA while reading.

Is it certified?

No certification is listed for this model. Tell us which marks your project needs and we will confirm what documentation can be supplied.
