Tamper-Proof 13.56 MHz Card Reader, Metal Frame, IP65: overview

TP-150 is a 13.56 MHz tamper-alarm reader built with a metal middle frame, which reduces the effect a metal mounting surface has on reading. That makes it the model to specify for steel door frames, metal gate posts and turnstile cabinets.

It reads MIFARE Classic, MIFARE DESFire EV1/EV2, MIFARE Ultralight and Ultralight C, NTAG2xx, NFC Forum Type 1/2/4 tags and CPU smart cards under ISO/IEC 14443A/B and ISO/IEC 18092. The encrypted content of CPU cards can be read, giving a credential that resists simple copying. Read range is 0–3 cm.

The 93.3 × 93 × 19.3 mm housing is rated IP65 and raises a tamper alarm if the reader is taken off its mount. Operating temperature is –20 to +65 °C, with storage down to –40 °C.

Integration notes

Output is Wiegand or RS485 from a 9–15 V DC supply; at 12 V allow about 100 mA on standby and 150 mA while reading. Firmware and settings are updated over RS485 with the management utility. A touch-keypad version is available in the same housing. No third-party certification is listed for this model.

TP-150 FAQ

Why does the metal middle frame matter?

Metal behind a 13.56 MHz reader can shorten or disrupt reading. The metal middle frame reduces that effect, so performance is more consistent on metal mounts.

Does it read 125 kHz cards?

No, it is 13.56 MHz only. For 125 kHz and 13.56 MHz in one reader, see TP-140 (same 93 mm size) or TP-120 (86 mm).

What outputs are available?

Wiegand and RS485. The RS485 line also carries firmware updates from the management utility.

What are the power requirements?

9–15 V DC; at 12 V, about 100 mA on standby and about 150 mA while reading.

Is there a keypad version?

Yes. TP-150-MS-K adds a touch keypad in the same housing.
