38 × 29 mm ISO14443A module that reads card UIDs and reads/writes MIFARE Classic sectors, available with TTL, Wiegand 34 or RS232 output.
The HF-180 is a single-protocol 13.56 MHz module for products that only need ISO/IEC 14443A cards, such as MIFARE Classic 1K/4K access and membership cards. It returns the UID of MIFARE Classic, Ultralight and NTAG2xx cards and can read and write data held in MIFARE Classic sectors, which suits stored-value, locker-assignment or visitor-pass schemes that keep data on the card.
The antenna is integrated on the 38 × 29 mm board, and rated read distance is up to 60 mm depending on the card and surroundings. By default the module runs in automatic card-search mode and pushes card data to the host as soon as a card is presented, so a simple controller can listen without polling.
Three output builds share one footprint: TTL UART for microcontroller hosts, Wiegand 34 for access controllers, and RS232 for PCs, kiosks and older terminals. Demo software and an SDK are supplied for development.
Connection is a 6-pin, 2.54 mm pitch header: reset, a reserved input, D1, D0, ground and power in. D1 and D0 carry serial RX/TX on the serial builds and Wiegand DATA1/DATA0 on the Wiegand build. Serial speed is set by command between 9600 and 115200 bit/s, defaulting to 115200. The ordering table lists all three builds at 5 V; the datasheet also names 3.3 V as a supply option, so confirm the voltage when you order. Current draw is below 100 mA, and the module is rated –10 to +70 °C.

Gym access control system hardware for 24/7 clubs: fob and wristband readers, face and QR terminals, anti-passback controllers and no-touch exit buttons.
Yes. Besides reading UIDs, it reads and writes MIFARE Classic sector data. Ultralight and NTAG2xx cards are listed for UID reading.
HF-180-M-W34 outputs Wiegand 34 on the D0/D1 pins. If your controller expects Wiegand 26, look at the HF-160-M-W26 or HF-170-M-W26.
No. The default mode is automatic card search, so the module sends card data as soon as a card enters the field. Serial builds run at 9600–115200 bit/s, 115200 by default.
The listed builds run at 5 V DC ±5% and draw under 100 mA. The datasheet also lists 3.3 V as an option; confirm it at order if your host rail is 3.3 V only.
Compare Wiegand, OSDP and RS485 reader interfaces: wiring, cable limits, AES-128 Secure Channel and steps for a compatible access-control migration.
125 kHz cards are cheap but easy to clone; 13.56 MHz cards add memory and, on DESFire-class chips, AES security. Compare range, chips, security and migration.
